Package Manager Faking installs?

This is wierd.  I use the package manager to upload the mod, then I install it (all files to be written to say "test successful"), and it says that the mod has been successfully installed.  WRONG!  The mod is not installed...at all!  When I try to uninstall the package, all the files that were supposed to be written to say "test failed".  It's as if the package manager ain't modifying any of those files.

Previously, it gave me the error "You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable! "  But I resolved that by creating a temp folder in the packages folder.  So how do I fix this issue?

Interesting, that makes 3 of us with the same issue.....

By any chance are you installing into a subdomain?

see these 2 similiar issues:

Nothing pertaining to installs.  This is very peculiar.  Anyway, I'm gonna empty the log and see if anything shows up when I try to install something.

Are both the /Packages and the /Packages/temp CHMOD to 777, 775 or 755 depending on what your host requires?

For some reason, the package manager has been working fine recently.  I dunno why, but as long as it works, I'm good (maybe the server admin quietly fixed something :D ) .  Thanks for the help.

I have the exact same problem. I had to create and chmod 777 the temp dir before the package manager would work. And then it made all the backups but never changed any files. Consequentially the uninstallation resulted in lots of "Test failed".

- SMF 2.0 RC1.2
- All files inside Package and the Package dir itself are 777.

Kolya,

Please upload a phpinfo file and link to it please.

What is a phpinfo() file?
PM at your own risk, some I answer, if they are interesting, some I ignore.

I looked into it. One thing is that you host is running a very outdated version of php. The only thing I saw that might be the cause (unless I overlooked something) is that it could be a misconfiguration of open_basedir. You should ask your host to check the php config.

I can always ask my host to upgrade my account to PHP5.x, they're making that offer. Just haven't done it yet because I saw no reason to do so. You know, as long as it works...
Well I'll look into that. Thank you.
