Can't change language away from ru_RU.utf8

I recently upgraded to V2 all was ok, although for some reason I have lots of languages installed I only want to use english. I noted that some users had English UTF-8 as their default language & some had English ISO-8859-1.

I was trying to reset the default to ISO-8859-1 in Edit Languages when something went wrong! Now my default says English UTF-8 but the Locale says ru_RU.utf8. Needless to say a lot of menus have gone!

How do I put this right please?

Technically this isn't solved; as a quick fix wasn't forthcoming I reinstalled over the previous copy and quite simply didn't go near any language files for fear of it screwing up again. There needs to be a better way of removing unwanted languages, reading though it seems that manual removal is tedious and as I have dozens of them I'm going to have to let it go until an easier method appears on the horizon.

Unsolved and the post will drift into oblivion...

RC2 has been released to charters and should be public fairly soon. Once it is released you might want to try upgrading and see if the problem remains
