Karma Improvements/Customisation

Hey,

I love SMF. It's truly awesome, there are so many good features and it is so easy to use. There are a few things that I think should be added/improved, mainly being the Karma System, and an option to have Awards.

Karma tells you how trustworthy a member is right? Well I think that the Karma system should also tell you how experienced a member is.

This is my suggestion:

• There should be an option to give Karma per topic, thread and rank.
• Karma should show up on the Member list so it is easier for Admins/Moderators to inspect users with low/high Karma.
• There should be an option to have Karma based Membergroups.
• Members with lower Karma than # should be automatically put on the watchlist/reported to a Moderator.
• If Awards are ever implemented, then an optional amount of Karma should be automatically awarded per Award (eg. 10 Karma for Poster of the Month).

I know there are Mods for this, but it would be great if it was within SMF by default.

The reason more powerful karma options are not in SMF by default are because they add performance weight - and also not all forums use them. In fact, I don't actually know any forums I'm a member of that have it enabled.

Because not so many forums would actually use the above features, it would be preferable to keep them out of SMF core and have them as mods, so that not all forums get slowed down with features that only a minority would likely use.
