Very frustrated at the lack of proper indexing of forum pages. How can one improve the SEO friendliness of this forum software?

By contrast I run a forum using vBulletin and vBSEO, and pages are indexed each day, to the point where if I type a title of a thread created the previous day, it'll show up in Google the next day. Not so with this software!

You just need lots of good back links, as you do with any forum software.

A semantic theme won't hurt either, so use SMF 2 RC2 (when it's released), or one of Forsakenlad's themes with an older version. Other authors have also made semantic themes, but I think Forsakenlad's are the best!
