This is a new thread for variations on the new 2.0 RC3 default theme, Curve. Attached to this post are several files.
Updated for RC3 courtesy of Brettflan

First is a complete PSD for the main_block image of the standard version of Curve.
This is provided for the use of anyone who wishes to make their own custom variations.

Also attached are a complete theme zip for my three variations of Curve and PSD files for the custom images in them.
These theme zips may be installed as stand alone themes, or the files from them may be copied into the default theme folders.
Terms of use are here.

Other people's variations will also be added to this thread as they are made and released for public use.

Do not attempt to install these on the old Core theme or on 1.1.x. You have been warned.  ;D

ETA: Attached a zipped menu_gfx.psd.

Cool, I'm looking forward to the re-release of the other two as well.

I was actually about to post a question asking for an update on when the Curve Customization Kit would be available, but this should hold me over nicely until the complete kit is released :)

One question though: Which pngquant batch file and resulting file version do you recommend that I use? I've currently used Process - Palette reduce 256 Median.bat and the -fs8.png file, which seems to work fine, but it would be great to get confirmation that these are indeed the best options.

Antechinus

I don't use pngquant at all so I can't advise on that. I use Photoshop, Fireworks, PNGGauntlet and very occasionally GIMP. Speaking of which I may get around to doing the main_block.psd in xcf format as well. I'm not really looking forward to it though. :D

Edi, I'll do Blue Steel next then. I should have time tonight.

Sverre

I read in a bug report a while ago that pngquant was used to compress the original image files, and from what I can tell, it does a very good and consistent job at it too. If it is any better than the exporter in PS, etc., I don't know, but it's certainly faster if you have a large batch of images you need to compress/optimise.

Antechinus

It wasn't used for any of the images in the OP of this thread, and it wasn't used for the default Curve main_block.png, coz I made the thing. :D

It may have been used for some of the others but I have no idea. Like I said I use PNGGauntlet, which is based on the same code as pngquant but has a nice little gui so it is convenient to use.

Sverre

PNGGauntlet seems like it might be worth looking into, even if the batch files make pngquant pretty convenient to work with as well. I've used porneL's improved version of pngquant by the way.

Antechinus

Well you can run batches in PNGGauntlet too.
