well i don't have any smileys over the top of the post box so i am just assuming that the large upgrade will correct that ??

Why don't you try some smiley sets?  Don't install new smileys, but just see what does your forum error log say about it when you post...

i've tried changing the smiley sets from default to classic and back again and nothing works - i don't even have the formatting buttons like bold, italic e.t.c...

haven't read the error log yet .. will look

fairly unsurprisingly i've just jumped in and done the large upgrade and it's resolved the smiley problem -  now have the full range of icons and things about the text box

getting the arcade working again is going to be an entirely different story since the e-arcade addon is barely maintained nowadays

@jasonwatkins - glad you got everything working.  I'm sure Eric will get e-arcade updated in due time.  He is probably waiting till it goes final and I really don't blame him for doing that.

@MATTEK - did you get your issues worked out?  The link in my signature about upgrading has some pretty good information and that's right from the online manual.

Someone on the forum claims to have crowbarred it into RC2 by doing some manual edits so i'm going to try and figure that out myself later on - if i can get it to work, i'll try and get a line-by-line breakdown of the edits to post for other people
