Thinking Of Converting To SMF from IPB...but what about scripts?

We're currently using an IPB board at Gulf Coast Weather.  We're on version 3.0.4.  We're on a shared server with our hosting company and they're telling us we are above the industry standard for shared servers when it comes to script executions.

How are SMF boards when it comes to scripts?  Is SMF less 'resource hungry'?  I'm going to install a test version on our server just to play around with, but we really need something to stick to.

We've moved from Proboards to IPB, and now likely need to move again.

Thanks for any opinions or help you may give in this.

SMF is designed rather to be simple and offer a core which does not have too many features, but can be easily modified (by installing mods) to make it into what each wishes. Thus, it's rather not a big resource user (at all). Yet, resource consumption will depend on the mods you have installed, on your settings, on how big your forum is, that is, your number of users and their activity of course.
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.
