Send Locked Topics to Bottom

Link to Mod

This mod reorders the contents of a board so locked topics always appear at the bottom of the listing, regardless of last posting or when they were locked.

As per the attached screenshot, the two locked topics are newer than the oldest topic. Note also it deliberately does not differentiate between user-own locked and moderator locked topics.

It *doesn't* change the order of the previous/next links, however.

I know this really isn't related to the mod, but half the time when I do something in the packages area, i get:
Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

I log out and in, then it happens again! (bug?)

Please ask that in the 2.0 support board. In your new topic, please also confirm if it happens while you are using the default theme or not.

It must send to buttom but current page only. Now it sends to boards buttom after 10 pages for example...

It sends them to the very bottom, exactly what it says it does.

To rewrite it as you're suggesting is a complete rewrite of the mod which I have no time or energy to do, not to mention that I seem to recall this is on my list of mods I'm giving away.

This mod sends to buttom but not currently page buttom. To the division buttom.

For example:
1.page
1.topic
2.topic
3.topic

2.page
1.topic
2.topic
3.topic

3.page
1.topic
2.locked topic
3.locked topic

I say:

1.page

1.topic
2.topic
3.locked topic

Yes, I know. I wrote it.

I am not changing it:
1. I do not have the time to sit and rewrite the database queries to avoid the HUGE performance impact.
2. I am trying to give this mod away, indicating I do not wish to do further development.

I am on vacation, as my signature states. I will be updating all of my mods to RC3 very shortly.

Labradoodle, he added that post to about 70 mods...

Just pointing out that you can mostly ignore it and do it when you're ready.

But hey, if you're comfortable thinking you're being harassed for updates, you stick with that.

Arantor, I don't consider it as me being harrassed. If I did, it may be different. But I consider it a nice reminder to update my mods, which I am thankful for, with 28 mods and more in development and the quque.

You know that it's not actually a good idea to have too many mods... when RC2 came around it took about 3 weeks to get all my mods refitted then... and I had less then than you do now.

I'm fine with my workload. It's what I like doing.

Arantor

Just a little bit of advice that's all, as I received similar advice from karlbenson a bit back (you know he had 80 mods, right?)

This mod works fine with RC3. You just need to say so in package-info.xml.

I suggest whenever you have a spare 5 minutes just test mods like this one with the emulator and see if you can get away with a simple update just changing package-info.xml. Or set the version to "2.0.0-2.99.99" instead of "2.0 RC3" so that if it works then people can use it straight away and you won't get bothered on the forums. If it doesn't then screw them and do it when you get time.

really cool mod indeed
if anyone could get it in there workload and update it to fir with latest ill give you a big cheer :)

Matthew K.

As already stated, you just need to emulate the mod.

I do plan on updating all of my mods, or giving the ones away that I don't feel like updating very shortly. I have been working on a mod site very heavily, which is where I have put all of my time.

Hello, could a SMF 1.1.18 version of this mod be done please?

Thank you

I'm wondering if it would be possible to have the date-based sort order on certain boards but use this for the rest of the boards.

I realize this would not be useful for everyone and I'm not asking for a complete change of the mod, but is it possible that i could change that manually somehow, if so: how and what would I need to change? :)

I'm using 2.0.5 and the board Id's i don't want included in this (if that matters) is '4' and '6'.

Thank you!

Arantor

Except it will be a complete change of the mod to implement, sorry.

Oh, that's too bad, I should have realized when i looked at the mod. We'll just have to decide what we need to most, the locked topics of all boards to stay at the bottom or not. :) Thanks anyway!

Awesome mod with awesome idea, but with 1 huge con. What to do when there are hundreds or thousands of topics and nice percent of that topics are locked and latest locked topic is not going to bottom, but somewhere in the middle page as 1st locked topic?
Now the problem is you might want recently closed topic to see it again. If you have for example 200 pages of not locked topics and 100 pages of locked topics, recently locked topic with Today time won't go at bottom, but if there are 300 pages in total it will go to page 201 from total of 300 pages which makes it almost impossible to find for the most of users, even for very experienced SMF users. So my point is here is used very bad logic, recently locked topic should go very bottom at the last page, and not in the middle. Is there solution for this logical problem?

I'm using it for years and for large boards where often can be seen hundreds of locked topics, its real mess to find unless if I check directly in my profile, or if I know someone else who posted in that topic or from Moderation Log which I guess majority of administrators barely use for such purpose.

On Download this mod page is a screenshot which is showing this logic where there are 2 topics with topic subject Test and oldest topic is at very bottom, newer are going to middle so navigation after locking makes searching for that topic very difficult.
