collation issues when upgrading to 2.0

Hi,

I'm testing the upgrade from 1.1.11 to 2.0 RC2 before going to production with it.
The environment is a shared server and most of the messages are in Hebrew-utf8 and not in English.

After the upgrade I discovered that the old posts in Hebrew appear as ????????

I looked into it and saw that every table that was modified during the upgrade is being 'reconfigured' using the default server's collation setting (which is set to .. .. .. latin1_swedish_ci  ? god knows why)

After checking with my hosting provider support team I was informed that I'm unable to change this settings.

Questions:
1. Which file / script runs the tables upgrade ?
2. Is It possible to define (manually) what will be the collation for the upgraded tables ?
3. Does anyone has some other solution to that ?

Thanks,
Gil Uriel

Did you select UTF-8 when you were doing the upgrade?  You mention that you are testing before upgrading the live forum, so did you check the collation of the tables before accomplishing the upgrade on the copy of the database?

The upgrade.php file reads the database collation in order to match the current collation.
