Hi, I just moved servers and migrated my SMF Forum, all the backup was done and I installed a fresh copy of RC2 and filled the database with no problem, now the problem is that I can't see any text, I can see the stats and how many topics and posts are in a board, but there is no text.

I'll attach some snaps so you guys can see what I'm talking about and hopefully help me resolve this problem.

BTW, I did a search and couldn't find anything related, my apologies if there is something similar already.

Have you tried running all the forum maintenance options in your administrator control panel? If not, then try to "Find and repair any error".

Ran everything, checked the database from phpmyadmin to see if there was any data, and there is, forum has no problem running whatsoever, but I just can't see any text on posts nor topic links...T_T

Did you run repair_settings.php?

Yes I have, everything is good, all paths match, language file is default, login with database works.

[SAP]Francis

Tell me, is your database UTF-8 while the forum is not set to run UTF-8? That might be the problem.

Sorry to tell you but I have no idea then. I have posted a new topic in the support board so your issue will be accessed as soon as possible.  O:)

Thought this was a support board heh, I guess there is an upper level for unsolved issues so developers can take a look.

Anyway, thanks for your time Francis, I hope my problem gets looked at soon.

Oh sorry I missed a word there, I meant the Support Helpers board. :)

If you open the database back up, do you see the text there in their respective tables? ({db_prefix}messages)

* hadesflames thinks the back up may have been corrupted.

SlammedDime

The specific table you need to look at is the messages table, as hadesflames said.

If you do an export on JUST that table, how big is the file?

If you'd like to PM me cPanel log information for your site, i can take a look at it first hand to see what's going on.

Also how did you make the backup of the database and then how did you import it?  There is a known issue with phpMyAdmin if you export with some other utility and then import with phpMyAdmin or if you export with phpMyAdmin and import with some other utility.

Realizing the size constraints, if you export with phpMyAdmin then you won't have an issue if you import with pnpMyAdmin.

Everything seems to be in place, I have attached a screenshot so you can see.

13.6 Mb , screenshot attached too.
(About the access to the account, lemme talk to my boss about that and I'll get back at ya, I don't mind personally, but it's up to him)

Backup was manually (export) made via phpMyAdminon the other host, and was inserted via phpMyAdmin (import) on this new host.

I have also tried to create topics and post messages, I can get to the forms to do so and write them up, it posts them without problems, but I still can't see the text.

I don't know if it's helpful but the new server is a godaddy one (I know it sucks, but the boss wanted it there), and their phpmyadmin version is older than the previous one, however I never got problems when inserting the dump.

I believe it has something to do with the text censors you guys have in place.  Note down all of the censored text you guys use and remove all text/replacements, then see if your posts start appearing, then add the censors back as needed.
