SimplePortal Installation Help!

Right,

I am trying to install SimplePortal to my Forum However I am having horrendous issues trying to install it and i really have no idea what to do.

I currently have another Site running (with smf) and i installed Simpleportal with no problems whatsover.

Basically I have done the following:

I have used an FTP Program to transfer it to packages and in Package manager it did not recognise it.

I have used the 'Browse Package' forum to upload the portal and i get an error message saying that it could not be installed as one or more of the files is read/write protected or something like that. I CHMOD'ed every single file folder to try and make this work and nothing happened. I completely deleted the content on my site and started again with a fresh install of smf and tried simpleportal again and still the same error.

I have searched the internet this afternoon looking for solutions but it always points me towards the same help topic on this site and to be honest it has not helped me.

I don't know if it is just me going mad or something but i would really appreciate some human help on this one as i am completely bamboozled by this one!

Have you tried asking on SimplePortal's support thread or on its dedicated support forum?

Were all of the files CHMOD'ed to 777, 755, or 664 (How do I use CHMOD?/What is CHMOD?)? Any Mod installations/custom work you did prior to attempting to install SimplePortal also could stall the installation.
