In admin settings it's all ok.
Sorry for my poor english

I am working it out with SMF 1.1.12
so far I have edited the necessary files and have moved some files to where they should be but there are files that was not specified on which directory I should place them
-install.xml
-installscript.php
-package-info.xml

I placed them in my sites root directory, is that the right place?

meanwhile I just tried it out but when one connects via facebook, he/she is asked to choose a username and password but the email address field is not shown so the process can't continue.

What version of SMF
What Portal

If you have the portal installed before this mod the fbconnect button shows in the user block

No only you can log into the admin account.

You are already an existing user so all you did was integrate your facebook with your exiting forum account.

However if you are logged into facebook and you try to test with another forum account YOU might think this is happening but its only because your browser is still logged into your facebook account.

(always test with separate computers or at least separate browsers)
