I don't understand why clicking the link returns back to where the link was clicked from.

I followed the code:

<a href="#" onclick="javascript:fbLogin(); return false;"><img src="http://biology-forums.com/Themes/default/images/fb_connect.png" alt="" /></a>

It's because of a what I highlighted in red. It is anchored to what's in the url which keeps it on the page which it clicks and not pointed to a page or script.

First you have to install this mod successfully, after that go here to create a Facebook apps
https://developers.facebook.com/apps. After creating a apps on facebook, just collects this information 1)App ID/API Key and 2)App Secret, then go your forum and enter this information. and done. Also don't share 1 and 2 information to others.
If you want any help, you can feel free to pm me.
Thanks

Nityaa99, I've already done that and actually used this mod for a year and a bit. Just not this occurred. Why could this be?

If someone can please help me work this for 1.x like it did a week ago, I will pay money. Let me know what a fair price would be.

Now this is weird...

I installed this mod successfully on my SMF 2.0.2 Forum.

Then I point my browser to https://developers.facebook.com/apps to get an App ID, API Key and on & on but I am redirected to my own page on Facebook.

Anybody familiar with this?

Tnx!

Any suggestions for the to issues in the links above?

-Thanks

Anyone offer some help for this from the links above?

Ok this has gone on long enough... WILL PAY FAIR AMOUNT to have some minor cosmetic changes done. Nothing even major, just moving the position of a couple of items from the links above. Should be easy for someone fluent in how these mods work since it's not actually in a template, or I would do it myself. Please PM with a fair price for this minor work.

I have a couple of errors I am curious about how to fix. The first one is highlighted in with the red box. I see where the code is the file for the rest of the meta, but don't see one for the one its describing. Any ideas or suggestions?

The second one, the image speaks for itself. The part where it says it "could not retrieve the specified page" Any idea why that is happening? It just recently started doing that.

Other then those two minor issues everything else seems to be working correctly at the moment. Any suggestions or ideas?

-Thanks

for the one in the second image you can sort this in fb admin  i think it under soccial fan box page url or somthing been time since i looked at it

fo the first image

the tiny og:image tell you whats wrong the image  needs to be at least 200px again you can chnage this in fb admin open grath to change the image

meta with name instead of property

<meta name="author" content="Weather Connection" />
<meta name="language" content="English" />
<meta name="publisher" content="Weather Connection" />
<meta name="audience" content="Weather" />

you have this in you template i have a feeling t will conflict with fb tags as there strict <meta property instead of <meta  name this may also be why you get the og:image errors

Yea it was in the Admin under social Facebook page url. I was still using my old FB url instead of the new. Guess I forgot to update it. Got it updated and that error went away and it works fine.

Yea, it's small as it's below 200px. I knew about that one, that's a easy fix.

In the FacebookHooks.php I noticed this code for the meta, it has nothing about author, does there need to be? Would that help because it's looking at the normal meta tags for that name? What's a work around for that? Any that can be added?

You know the open graph standard isn't complete or one method or requirement isn't set in stone yet. I don't go by Facebook standards but by the ones on this site - http://ogp.me/

However I have been using images around 50 to 100px without any complaint from Facebook. Check out my site in my sig and share something, you will notice the open graph code works ok. Well there is one area I need to fix and that is YouTube videos in the gallery but everything else should work.  ;)

As for author, I currently don't use that tag for anything, I may implement it though.

Well see that is where the problem is. I don't have a meta tag for author at all. Not sure if it's looking for one or what or where it would be.

This is from my index.template.php and these are the only meta tags I have in there.

echo '
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=', $context['character_set'], '" />
<meta name="description" content="', $context['page_title_html_safe'], '" />', !empty($context['meta_keywords']) ? '
<meta name="keywords" content="' . $context['meta_keywords'] . '" />' : '', '
<title>', $context['page_title_html_safe'], '</title>';

This is in FacebookHooks.php that is for the open graph.

$open_graph = '
<meta property="fb:app_id" content="'.$modSettings['fb_app_id'].'" />
                <meta property="og:type" content="article" />
<meta property="og:locale" content="'.(empty($modSettings['fb_admin_intern1']) ? $modSettings['fb_admin_intern1'] : 'en_US').'" />
                <meta property="og:title" content="'.$context['page_title_html_safe']. '" />
                <meta property="og:image" content="'.(!empty($modSettings['fb_app_image']) ? $modSettings['fb_app_image'] : $settings['default_theme_url'].'/images/topic/veryhot_post.gif').'" />
                <meta property="og:description" content="'.$context['page_title_html_safe'].'" />
                <meta property="og:url" content="'.(empty($context['current_topic']) ? $scripturl : $scripturl .'?topic='.$context['current_topic'].'.0').'" />';

      $buffer = str_replace('</title>','</title>'.$open_graph, $buffer);
}

When you view the source this is what shows.

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />

<meta name="description" content="Weather Connection Forum is your online source for weather enthusuasts" />
<meta name="keywords" content="Weather, Station, weather, Virtual, Cumulus, GRLevelX, american, forums, Display, Personal, Nexrad, Stations, Davis, forum, PWS, websites, lightning, Boltek, radar" />
<title>Weather Connection Forum - Your Online Source For Weather Enthusiasts</title>
<meta property="fb:app_id" content="REMOVED FOR PRIVACY" />
                <meta property="og:type" content="article" />
<meta property="og:locale" content="en_US" />
                <meta property="og:title" content="Weather Connection Forum - Your Online Source For Weather Enthusiasts" />
                <meta property="og:image" content="http://www.mesquiteweather.net/weatherconnection/images/WC-FB_Logo.png" />
                <meta property="og:description" content="Weather Connection Forum - Your Online Source For Weather Enthusiasts" />
                <meta property="og:url" content="http://www.weather-connection.com/index.php" />

So as you can see there is no meta property or meta name for Author. So is it saying there needs to be one?

-Thanks
