The proper way to backup the files and database?

Hello guys

I'm planning to back-up my SMF2 RC3.
Is there a proper way to backup the files and database?

or is the only way is to do it manually?

best way is manually using phpmyadmin and selecting export

You can make a backup of the database via AdminPanel - Maintenance _ Database

But I prefer PHPMyAdmin because I can adjust the parts the database backup is written in. When there are more then 300 Items in a part is isn't possible to restore the database using BigDump.

BackUp of the files should be done manualy via FTP.
