SMF not sending registration emails

So I recently revived my forum and decided I'd try registration to see if it still worked.

However, I didn't get an activation email after registering even though it says successful and email has been sent. There is no mail queue. I can send a "newsletter" to myself and it'd work just fine (however, if I try to send a newsletter to another email address, it doesn't work). I clicked the link to get SMF to resend the activation email. No response.

I then decided to upgrade from 1.1.11 to 2.0 RC2... still all the above holds true.

What is wrong with my forum? If I wanted to, how do I reinstall with my old tables??? Thanks!
