I was told about this a couple months ago but i didnt chase it since one person called my attention and i thought it was his computer.

Now others have reported this and i tried it myself.   I wonder if its a mod.

If you use the SMF default theme, all's good, yes?

If you use the SMF default theme, all's good, yes?

On the custom theme:

When i go to the PM's page to view them, it works fine.    But the second i click on "reply" to any message, the page is loads with the post window and before it finish loading all the smilies, an IE error window pops up with a warning.   When i click "OK" on the warning box, it closes the browser saying "The page could not be opened".

If i click the "Back" button, then the post window is already loaded just fine and able to reply the PM just fine.

The problem is only using IE6,7,and 8.

On default:

It seems to be ok.    ...but the warning message appears if i refresh the PM post page with F5 and it shuts down.

Mick.

I take that back.....   it also happens on default just like in the custom theme.

kat

Gotta love IE...

This is a long shot.

Make sure you're using the SMF default theme.

Using your ftp client, go to the Themes directory and rename the directories of the custom themes that are being daft. (Just add a "0" to the beginning, or something)

Now try it. Does it make any difference?

Mick.

Thank you for all your help Kat ;)

...but issue still there.   IE sucks

kat

Bugger. Rename the themes back, then. ;)

I'm just gonna reread this entire thread, to see if anything leaps out at me.

Mick.

Thank you.   Just know that everything said it also happens on default theme.

kat

Yeah. Contrary to what you said on the first page. ;)

I've had a small brainwavette...

Would you mind me having FTP access to your site, so I can have a quick look at a few things?

There's one file that I MIGHT edit.

If I do, there'll be a copy of the original with a zero at the end kept as a backup.

Just a hunch I've had and it'll be so much easier to have a look, myself, than type a whole page of instructions...

Mick.

kat

OK, mate!

I'll be a little while. Wife needs me to take her somewhere. I'll be about half an hour.

Women, huh? ;)

I know what you mean.... ;)

kat

Right. As Kays said, those files WERE from the highslide mod. However, instead of being in a directory named "hs", in the root of your site, they were in the highslide directory, inside your default theme's directory.

They're, now, where they should be, according to your error-message.

How's it looking, now?

Mick.

Last error from the server was over 10 minutes ago.   Thanx for that.

...but, the iE issue still persists.   Even after clearing the file cache.

You have another PM.

kat

Odd, that. I started to type a reply.

I thought all was well. Suddenly, I get the attached message.

If I use the "Back" button, all's well.

I'm gonna have to study that, a bit...

Mick.

Yep, thats it.    lol.... i couldnt even snap a picture to post.  It wouldnt let me select the snapper before clicking OK in the warning box.

Anyways, you see what i see.   Thats the issue my IE users are reporting.

I wonder if something can be added in css to prevent that.   ...or could it be an rc2 bug?

kat

Well, I just checked with my RC2 forum and that url is perfectly OK.

I tried to use the default them on your site, but even the index.php?theme=1 trick wouldn't change it.

I'm just going to poke about in your default theme's directory, to see if anything, there, looks weird.

That'll work.    I make themes available to users too.     lol,...i only have 2.

Mick.

I also have another smf forum with rc2 using default curve.   No issues there.
