Then, download the mod, unzip it and then upload that folder to the root of your forum.

thanks for you help but not quite what I meant - this has given me a drop down selection from the "home" tab to "forum" rather than swapped the two existing tabs around $:-\$

I did all that...now what do I do? I changed the php file's permissions.

yeah...

unzip the Sources and Themes folders contains in the adk portal zip....

After that... upload both folders

I did that; now what? I keep getting the same error:

reupload the adkportal folder....

Surely when you installed, not unzipped the folders.
