Calendar event colours

I use this forum mainly because of the great calendar attached to it. I need to be able to have users to be able to post a date event and have a selection of colours for that event. That is if on the 25th their is a competition event then they can choose blue, if the same day has an education event then that can be colourd red and so on for different events. Also a slightly different font?
