reinstalling problem

Ok so I'm in the process of totally reinstalling the board. I have uploaded all of the necessary files. I go to the directory where I put the install.php file in and I get "404 not found". Yet it most certainly is there as I checked through the control panel file manager on my server.
Am I  missing something or what?

Found a quick simple way to install it.
After a dozen or so tries with filezilla, getting it wrong half the time, I decided to upload directly through the file manager on the server.
Upload the archive and unpack it took a lot less time and error free so far.
Luckily I'll be back in business shortly.

Can't get past the mysql stuff. Have tried several things and nuthin.
my username and password are correct as they should be.

Is the rest of the database info correct?

Try setting up a new user and password for that database.

YAY! Back in business. Had to do a little hunting on the server and found the proper password to use and it worked!
