asking about portal

i mean that i dont want to have any forum......only a portal>>??

I've considered attempthing this myself on a site I'm helping my buddy create.

You could probably just delete the tab for "Forum" in the index.template.php file and just never link to your forum. It would still technically be there, but I dont think anyone would know how to get to it...

Oh, wait, that's where the drop down menus are in my custom theme. I think you will have to remove the forum tab in the subs.php file.
