this is actually something I'd -REALLY- like... or at least the option to turn it on in the quick reply box... :-\
I know -that- is a template thing... but I think it'd be really good as default ;) (for me :P)

Thirded!

* Peter Duggan is aware that he's really fifthing this, but klumy said 'second', so there you are! :P

Grudge

I'm fairly sure as it stands the admin can set this as the default feature but not the users. :(

Which is why it's such a *good* idea!

All my boards are set up to do it by default, but, if the users could also select their own default setting, I'd certainly be checking it for forums like here and yabbse.org because I *always* like to read my posts after they're posted.

This has been planned for a long time, actually, I've just never gotten around to it.

I will continue bumping this topic untill it is done :D ... or I'll somehow do it myself... but for now bumping it is...

NOTE: after some thought really this should be a setting in the profile.. not my initial idea of making a cookie for all the additional options.. since if you loose your cookie you'll be surprised when all your options are gone!

This could be done EXACTLY like auto notify, it's jsut as easy I just have to get to it!

[Unknown]

It's in the cvs... Grudge bothered himself to do it, I just copied it in.

-[Unknown]

klumy

I saw this option in profiles now.
Thanks for integrating it !!

But obviously it doesn't work right now

That's mildly concerning...

EDIT: Unknown, seems alright in CVS - did it get put into the SMF theme here?

[Unknown]

Well, yeah... when I get around to feeling like it :P.

* [Unknown] does it now.

Would it be possible to make back to topic after posting into back to message index after posting if the admin has the default setting in features and options to already go back to the message after posting?

Grudge

Yea should be, sorry. I'll see if I can sort it out...

:) cheers Grudge and Merry Christmas

OK. Gonna be a little more tricky than expected, just gonna have to make it a select box instead of a checkbox I think... Hopefully it will be OK :)

Merry Christmas!

[Unknown]

Actually, it already does this.  (more or less.)  Basically, the checkbox defaults to checked if the setting is enabled.

[Unknown]

Should, I'll double check and see if there's legacy code...

This is the only place it references that setting:
$context['back_to_topic'] = !empty($modSettings['returnToPost']) || isset($_REQUEST['msg']);

And then, this is whether it goes back ot the topic or not:
if (!empty($_REQUEST['goback']))

So... it should work...

-[Unknown]

Ben_S

Odd, I have it unticked and I am still returned to the message and not the index. Makes no different if I tick it or untick it.

[Unknown]

Are you using quick reply or post?  Does it do the same for both?

-[Unknown]

Ben_S

Tried with both quick reply & proper reply, same effect for both

[Unknown]

It works for me... very strange....

Okay, let's follow this in another topic... (Charter only or Site Stuff.) but, to clarify:
  - with the option in Feature Settings and Options on, it:
     - with back checked, goes back.
     - with back unchecked, goes back.
  - with the option in Feature Settings and Options off, it:
     - with back checked, goes back.
     - with back unchecked, doesn't go back.
