shouldn't this topic be moved into Accepted Requests board ? :D

We don't need a reason to help people

[Unknown]

Well, yeah... when I get around to feeling like it :P.

* [Unknown] does it now.

Would it be possible to make back to topic after posting into back to message index after posting if the admin has the default setting in features and options to already go back to the message after posting?

Yea should be, sorry. I'll see if I can sort it out...

OK. Gonna be a little more tricky than expected, just gonna have to make it a select box instead of a checkbox I think... Hopefully it will be OK :)

Merry Christmas!

Actually, it already does this.  (more or less.)  Basically, the checkbox defaults to checked if the setting is enabled.

Should, I'll double check and see if there's legacy code...

This is the only place it references that setting:
$context['back_to_topic'] = !empty($modSettings['returnToPost']) || isset($_REQUEST['msg']);

And then, this is whether it goes back ot the topic or not:
if (!empty($_REQUEST['goback']))

So... it should work...

Odd, I have it unticked and I am still returned to the message and not the index. Makes no different if I tick it or untick it.

Are you using quick reply or post?  Does it do the same for both?

-[Unknown]

Ben_S

Tried with both quick reply & proper reply, same effect for both

It works for me... very strange....

Okay, let's follow this in another topic... (Charter only or Site Stuff.) but, to clarify:
  - with the option in Feature Settings and Options on, it:
     - with back checked, goes back.
     - with back unchecked, goes back.
  - with the option in Feature Settings and Options off, it:
     - with back checked, goes back.
     - with back unchecked, doesn't go back.
