If you make a copy of the sources directory, that's all you need.  You can also copy the files with tildas (~) on the end over the new versions - those files are backups.

? whats not being upgraded?

[Unknown]

It says "will", does it not?  Did you actually install it, or just read the notice of what it will do?

If you were at 1.0.2 it will install 1.0.3, and you'll have to do it again to install 1.0.4, or you may not have finished installing it as [Unknown] suggests.

For some reason, I can not upload packages.  It tells me...

QuoteSorry, your PHP configuration doesn't have support for zlib. Without this, the package manager cannot function. Please contact your host about this for more information.

How can I correct this and/or update it manually?  I have updated all my mods manually.  :'(

What would be better for me, the update or upgrade?  I'm currently running 1.0.3

peterstannard

Upgraded 10 forums to v.1.0.4, no problems  :)

cyberstang5.0,

If you have lots of mods manually installed I recommend doing neither. Simply download the little package and manually install the update - just like you would a mod. It's literally about 5 changes or something. I posted the url earlier - something like:
mods.simplemachines.org/downloads/smf_1-0-4_package.tar.gz

"The upgrader found some old or outdated files.

Please make certain you uploaded the new versions of all the files included in the package."

I get that message when I try to update.  I have gone form verson 1.0.1 to 1.0.2 to 1.0.3 to 1.0.4 and I get the same message when I try to run upgrade.php.  Any suggestions?

Grudge

You don't need to run upgrade.php on those updates I believe.

EDIT: But the error is probably due to an out of date Install.english.php file or something :/

I don't quite understand, how do I correct that problem?  Any tutorial or directions on that or could you be more specific.  I am completely new to these forum type things.  Thanks

Ok here is where I stand now: (what are the red Failures for and how to I overcome those?

The only mods I have is the warning mod and bar of experience.

Thanks for the help in the above post.  I will manually update it  :)

Those pre-install red "failure" notices should also have had a note somewhere on screen saying that FTP access is required to some files in order for them to be changed. When I've installed/upgraded, the Package Manager asks for the password to be able to get the access it needs. If installing manually, the permissions for some files or directories will need to changed, which is essentially what the Package Manager does itself using your password.

It only asks for your FTP details if you have not CHMODed the files to 777 even if you got all perfect successes, it could still ask you for your FTP. Did on one of the forums I had to upgrade.

littleone,

That error was caused because because your languages directory wasn't chmod to 777. It is however only the backup which failed - not the modification. Does your forum now say 1.0.4?

would it be possible to know what bugs have been fixed? rather than just say "minor bugs been fixed"
thanks

Chromiates Wargaming Forums is upgraded and ready to go.  This upgrade really did only take less than 60 seconds via the Package Manager.  I am very impressed!  Many thanks to everyone on the SMF team.  I'm expecting this to be the last 1.0.x upgrade prior to 1.1 or am I mistaken in this?

BTW, I'd like an updated copy of the SMF changelog.  Will someone please send that to me?  My e-mail address is in my profile.  Many thanks in advance.  :)

Hi

I hate asking this question, but I'm lost. It seems everyone here knows where the pckage manager is and I have no idea. Is it part of 1.03 or part of the dowloaded files that come with 1.04. I keep looking for a folder, a file name or something that says package manager but have no luck finding it.

Sorry for such a basic question, but I'm a rookie. Where and how do I find the package manager???

thanks
steve
