I won't include any mods in the core.  It's up to the multiforum owner to choose what they want to allow their forum owners to install.

I agree, forum hosting isn't for everyone.  But it's up to people to decide whether they want a go at it :P The script is also useful for people who end up installing lots of copies of SMF for their own use, as it's much quicker than installing the normal way.

And thanks, always nice to go up a group :)  Control? Eh?

Well it's good not having mods in the core - not loads of useless things that people don't want, 'eh ;) *cough*mymods*cough*
Yeah you're doing a good job and giving it lots of features and options ;) I like that ^_^

The demo version has been running for a couple days now, and despite several entries (some very interesting!) that I regard as attempts to hack or break the system, everything is still working.  I am planning on adding more security aswell.

I'll be doing more work on this tomorrow, so with any luck there will be a few more features to play with soon :)

Awesome ;) I kinda got distracted from it when I tried - but I'll delve into finding bugs when these new features are out ;)

I've added a demo link to the original post :)  Click on the "Create" tab, and you will have the option to create either a 1.1.11 forum or a 2.0 RC3 forum.  Forum name should be all lower case letters and no spaces or you'll get an error.

Hey,

I don't know what has already been added but it would be cool if these were:
1. Premium boards -> We can select forums to be "Premium" which gain premium benefits such as ad-free, backups enabled, premium themes etc...
2. Terminate a forum
3. Rename a forum
4. Manage ads -> Rotational ad manager where the admin can set either: (a) How many clicks the ad should get (Ex. 100,000) (Can set to unlimited) and (b) How long (Can set to never expire) + remove ads from certain board
5. Set one forum online/offline
6. Set all forums online/offline
7. Mailing system -> During signup people can set them to recieve emails from teh admin. At the same time the mailing system can send to those that chose not to recieve emails (For emergency stuff like host change etc..)
8. Suspend a forum
9. Unsuspend a forum
10. Add admin user to a forum
11. Manage ACP news (Each board has a news tab in teh admin section, on the index of the admin section and have it stand out so they notice the news)
12. Directory
13. Multiple database support
14. Multipul domain support
15. Custom domain support
16. Ajax forum name checker on signup form
17. PayPal + AlertPay + MoneyBrookers support for premium boards payment
18. A more advanced signup form:
     Board access name (you.site.tld)
     Admin username:
     Admin password:
     Admin email address:
     Directory catagory: (Or private)
19. Welcome thread configurable in admin cp ---> You know the "Welcome to SMF" thread thing, the title + content of the post should be customizable.

I have to agree with all of those features being added in sometime ;) Nice suggestions - however it's only ALPHA at the moment so may not come for some time - gamesmad is bringing it along fast ;)

HostDash

Added another quick suggestion (See my above post :D)

And thanks ^^^

Any updates?

Well it's a big mod and he's volunteering to do this, so I wouldn't expect that it's done just yet. However, some updates would be nice ;)

Jntg4

you forgot to add Newsletter Pro as a disallowed mod.

I found a free host that would more than sustain this, hosting is requets-based though, so I'll have to see if they accpt it, but it seems like they orbably will,  I've used them in the past too, it's a great service.

Maybe I'll say which host IF they accept it and WHEN this is released.

Also, are the addons going to be released simultaneously with the Multiforum?  Or later?  And will it be easy to make more forums compatible by ourselves?  (AEF, IPB 1.3.1 [old free version I still have], or even YaBB if possible).

Sorry I haven't been keeping this thread up to date.  I have been working on the admin panel, and also adding support for several more forums.  Currently supported forums are -

SMF 1.1.11
SMF 2.0 RC3
phpBB 3.0.7-PL1
myBB 1.4.13
myBB 1.6 Beta (1.5.0.1)
WhiteBoard .1.17
AEF 1.0.8

SMF Multiforum System will be released with support for SMF 1.1.11 and SMF 2.0 RC3.  It will be a free modification with no restriction in functionality, full admin panel included.

Addons, allowing users to choose from other types of forum, will be available at a cost of £10 ($15) each, and will include updates.  It will be specifically against the software license to create or use addons that have not been purchased.

Copyright removal will be available at a cost of £50 ($75).

Please note that full functionality for both versions of SMF, including the admin panel is totally free.

Personally, I wouldn't suggest running this script on a free host.  We're talking about a *lot* of space and bandwidth here.

Thanks for the update! I'm only really interested in SMF myself, but will the other multiforums be addons to the SMF multiforum?

Will your package include *all* of the forums' installations?

Jntg4

No, he just said 15 bucks a peace.

And the free host I use grants extra space for me whenever I need it and ANYTHING I need.

I hope that he knows that he's not allowed to share *any* of SMF (and others) files in the package.

Jntg4

He is well aware, but the other scripts have a different license allowing distribution of the unmodified or modified packages, but he'll make you have to install the scripts on your server or something.  He knows what he;d doing.  And the mod goes into the Package Manager, he's not redistributing.

You probably need the files for each forum in a subdirectory.
