Overall Introduction to my Topic:-

Sitting in my house garden, drinking my usual cup of tea and watching my favorite national series "Computer Whiz". Many ideas really hit my mind while watching that series. A guy started learning websites administration and development from the scratch, went over the years of efforts, support and services he and his teammate provided to be one of the most social web out-there. It was even competing the Facebook. The series is a fiction of course and I think it is hard to give it a try of realism. People simply will never leave facebook to go over another community. I believe that more than 80% of Computer users out there are lazy butts who like getting the service sitting on their chairs or beds.

When did I went for communities development?

After a full analyzing watch for that series, I believed that I MUST do what the guy and his friends did. They used a very normal ISP with a Shared Hosting. Oh my god!, Nothing is impossible is a quote that I will never disregard even at my own peril. Anyway, I started off going for online tutorials and advice on how to make a community. I am not interested in making a website itself but a community is my interest. I started to gather information from a variety of places out the world, seeing people problems, seeing answers from specialists and trying to help out with my few knowledge. As an accumulated information gathering in my mind, I began to deal with people, try to solve out there problems, Till I mastered this thing and became a helper.

My First vBulletin Launch

It was the year 2007, When I purchased my first copy of vBulletin Community Software. I setup a forum, started it somehow successful, members came over from every where, and made a nice database of 1k members.
vBulletin VS Smf (Features War)

Regarding vBulletin:

1-vBulletin Admin Center Interface is a kind of an utter terror for newbie vBulletin Purchasers, I cried over and blamed the $195 I spent to get that, but what? I started learning everything as my curiosity lead me to join the vbulletin support forum, all the way what happened with other forums I joined, yeah, you can say"I am a vBulletin Help Guide or a Gift" :P

2-vBulletin Usercp makes the members nauseous, They do not know from where to start and even if they went over the FAQ, they feel that they are in a pacman land.

3-vBulletin (as I think) only overwhelm Smf in the Templates writing and Phrase Management System. I admit that vBulletin Templates are much more customizable that those of Smf and I also praise the Phrase Management System built in the vBulletin as it is a great tool to fully customize your forums sections, titles, etc....

Regarding Smf:

1-Smf as it is written in there homepage:- "Elegant, effective, powerful, free, It is that Simple". The simplicity of Smf is one of the greatest reasons that attracted me strongly to use the Smf Community Software.

2-My members are very happy with their easy profile customizable fields embedded in Smf, They lovin' it!.

3-I, as an admin, totally prefer the Smf Admincp interface over that of vBulletin, and I am also impressed with the Packages Upload as a .zip or .rar feature. It has never been and will never be available on vBulletin.

What do I want?

With my even few days spent here on the Smf Community, I would like to give special thanks to :

Kill Em All, (F.L.A.M.E.R) and Kat for their GREAT , Very GREAT support and help that they provided to me that made me now, understanding what is going on the Smf.

And That's Why I Prefer Smf Over vBulletin.....

I hope that you get no bored out of that topic, I did mean to write it because I am really feeling it :)

Best Regards,

I'll say, here, almost exactly, what I said to you, in private...

Madi...

It's messages like this and posts like this, that make it worth all the effort, my friend.

I don't know if you know, but the reason that SMF is free, is mainly because we are ALL volunteers.

None of us gets paid, or anything like that.

We all do this, because we want to help people.

Really, truly, honestly... THIS is why we do what we do.

THANKYOU!!!

My views where the same and so I just didn't type up again to thank you for writing a feedback on SMF. :)

The Positive was for the post you made and for the things Kat said. You can split up infinity into 50/50 :P
