Totally Messed up after Upgrade

well my best answer to that is :Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 2.0 RC3, while your database is at version 1.1.9. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

now that is what it told me a couple days a go . SO i think it was 1.1.9

Stupid? No it doesnt i would love to do that but I have no idea how to hook my datbase up to the new install because it gives it a new one everytime

At the Settings.php file enter the database information of the database that you want your forum to be connected to.

Keep the files Settings.php and Settings_bak.php on your server.
Remove all other files and directories from your forumlocation

Extract a fresh downloaded installationpackage for 2.0RC3 on your harddrive (in a directory)
Delete the files Settings.php and Settings_bak.php from the files just extracted on your harddrive
Delete the files install.php and *.sql from the files just extracted on your harddrive

Download the upgradepackage for 2.0RC3 and extract it on your local harddrive (in another direcory)
Copy over these files to the directory you unpacked the files from the installationpackage in:
- upgrade.php
- all *.sql files

Read this about the bug in Filezilla and make sure your settings are set according to it:

since the large upgrade package is EXACTLY the same files as the full installation package... except no settings.php and upgrade.php instead of install.php......... i fail to see what all those extra steps accomplish?

i am uploading it all now, Since I didnt do anything with the settings file and settings backup am i suppose to put those in the same folder as my clean install? or do i keep them separate still
