That's what I did, but it gave me the error as posted above

see: hxxp:forum.bodypro.nl/AutoEmbedMediaProInstall.php [nonactive]

Great, I went back to basics and installed via the package manager. Now my forum is completly offline.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF in /home/bodypro/domains/bodypro.nl/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs.php on line 2813

Any thoughts on this?

sourcy

Leave it be, I found it and fixed it. Youtube vids now work.

Thanks

I'm having trouble with all YouTube material uploaded since yesterday, anyone else? It just stopped displaying. Did YouTube change something?

EDIT: Actually the mod isn't displaying YouTube at all for me today... I haven't changed my code in a couple weeks either.

I just tried the newest embedder, I'm in the same boat, urls aren't converting to their players at all. Full links like these are even busted.

I hope it's not bit from my switch to UTF-8 encoding a couple weeks ago.

Hi vbgamer45...

Is it possible for you to ad content from www.slideshare.net in this great mod?

Anybody have a clue on what the issue could be? I tried embeds for youtube, world star, and google.. nothing.

Guys, make sure you allow urls in posts and topics in the admin area. I downloaded the youtube bb mod to see if it worked, and it did, so I knew my board wasn't broken, so it had to be a setting I changed.

I still don't understand why this mod was even created in the first place. Aeva Lite does all that easily, is more sophisticated and supports so many more sites. IMHO, this is a waste of resources in the alarmingly diminishing number of SMF developers. If you ask me, vbgamer's expertise would be much more useful in fixing popular abandoned mods that hopelessly require attention.

Two reasons.

Firstly, due to the crap that arose between Nao and the team over his being lied to about a team position, he withdrew Aeva from the mod site. Since that was in contravention of the agreement Karl had over his mods (as he was the original author of Aeva Lite, back when it was AEVAC), vbgamer decided to take matters in to his own hands.

Secondly, over on CreateAForum.com, which is run by vbgamer, someone asked him about it, and instead of suggesting a mod that covers a couple of hundred sites, and all the weird variations in those sites (which this doesn't, judging by the comments above, only the common cases), he wrote his own.

Oddly for once, I'm not here to judge whether these were the right things to do, but hey, I find there's a certain irony in the actions.

Irony? Hey, to be honest, lately it's all there is on SMF. People dropping mods and running off for a long time, like these mods are the plague... And then dual mods being created with the same purpose.

"Abandoned" and "Retired" were the two most common words i read on SMF in 2010 and it certainly looks like it won't be changing in 2011. :D

BTW, is this mod more cost-effective on the server resources than Aeva Lite? I am on a shared server with some busy SMF forums, so i would like to keep the number of queries, etc as low as possible.

Oh, you have no idea.

It depends on what you're doing. Aeva is slightly heavier, but as you can see from the above, most of the reason it's slightly heavier is because it actually seems more thorough at checking for odd URLs. Most of the folks who complain about Aeva's performance turn on every damn site in it and wonder why it's slow.
