I use SMF on one of my forums and I like it a lot, but at work, we use Soop Raven RC1 (5 years old).. Slow and doesn't look good. I've read that I can convert to phpbb then convert here, as well as having to convert to MySQL from SQLserver (I think that's what we use). How hard is this to do? Or is it even possible? I don't want to just upgrade the skin on Soop, I need a whole new forum. Problem is, I have 34k users, and 15k posts. Any help would great, even if you think I'm S.O.L.

Thanks

You could always try to convert from Soop, to phpbb, then to SMF, and see how the database turns out in the end and how intact it is.

Ok.. Do you know if there would be a huge process to backup/copy the database, just in case something screwed up happens and I need to revert back to the original?

Do you have phpmyadmin?

If so, you can just export it through there (Make sure to uncheck extended inserts to make sure there are no problems) and then reimport if any problems occur, but at the most, you'd just have to redo permissions
