Fist of all welcome godly to SMF, Getting and maintaining members takes time, good topics, interaction (posts) and time lol.
Some suggestions I would make to start off is to stay involved in the SMF community as there is a vast amount of people here with a
great understanding of the smf platform that are willing to help you.  Another is to have interesting topics that create conversation thus creating more content that will be indexed by spiders if you so choose. Last quick tip, create a signature link here as people may click on it to see your site and maybe join it too! There are others, nice theme etc. In short staying connected to the SMF community will give you knowlege on how to make your forum better.  Good luck to you!
