Help with Installation

Hi,
So all I have done is bought a domain, a hosting service, and download a FTP client and SMF.

I ran the FTP and connected to my domain. I then created a file called SMF on my domain through FTP. I then uploaded the files into that SMF file through FTP. Everything went fine, but then when I went to my domain, I got a 404 Not Found error. I went to ****.info/SMF/install.php. I have tried everything to just set up a domain path, but I always get the 404 Not Found error.

What am I doing wrong?

The SMF files have been extracted fully right? And when you say you created  a file called SMF, do you mean folder? There is a major difference... just trying to clarify.

My bad, I meant folder called SMF. And yes they have been.

Are all folders CHMOD to 755 while all files are CHMOD to 644?

I figured it out and have gone through the whole installation process. I deleted my install file and clicked on the link to my new forum. I got the 404 Not Found error :/

So the problem is solved or it isn't solved? What did you do to fix the original problem? Is your forum now installed and now when you try to access it you get a 404 error?
