Combine MODs? (Not sure where to put this.)

Alright, so my question is this...
We have the AJAX chat on our forum and we have this tweak by the awesome person here. http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=257973.msg2067337#msg2067337 And I just have to say it's been AWESOME and helpful.

Tonight we installed this MOD

For bumping posts modified...

My question is this, the modified post doesn't notify the chatbox, like all other posts do. So the bump goes unnoticed.
Is there a way to combine them? I looked at the code and it seems close. But I'm not that good at code, and wouldn't know what to edit or merge, as they both edit different files.

Not sure if this is in the right place, but thanks if anyone can let me know the answer.
