It keeps saying this PHP Error Message

Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/a8600918/public_html/100forum/smf/Packages/temp/./SMF1/tp_install.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/a8600918/public_html/100forum/smf/Sources/Packages.php on line 556
When I install a Mod, or it will go to a "Internet cannot display page".

Is there a malfunction in the files or am I installing the mod wrong?

Now I can't install a package because it's saying it's not writable? You cannot download or install new packages because the Packages directory or one of the files in it are not writable!

Kill Em All

Check to make sure the packages directory is CHMOD to 755 and the temp folder inside it is CHMOD to 777.

All folders should generally be 755 while all files should be 644.

I remember those numbers though. Go to the file and change it's file permissions am I right? Is one of the permissions invalid?

Kill Em All

Possibly, that is most likely the problem. And you are correct.

Still didn't work. I'm installing a portal, I changed the Packages folder to 755 right? Then I went to the folder containing the files of the mod/package and changed it to 777? Didn't change anything. I still haven't gotten any help on my last posts on how to install a portal. I'm getting frustrated ..

Kill Em All

The folder containing the files of the mods? You mean the folder called 'temp' right? without quotes... Is there a folder called that in there? If not, create one and make sure its 777. And the files should be 644. If that doesn't work, try deleting the mod then reuploading it and installing it.

Slayer5946

Oh okay I'll try that. I'm kind of recommending that SMF uploads videos to explain it in a more detailed and simpler way of explaining things. I just want to get the portal in and I'm done with most of my mods..!

Slayer5946

Sorry to double but where is the temp folder located? is it governing the packages folder?

Slayer5946

Now it's saying the entire thing has become invalid or corrupted? Where is the temp folder?

xenovanis

If there's no directory named 'temp' in your Packages directory, create one and chmod it 777.

Okay but, does that fix those issues above I posted or is that a seprate problem? I just want to get this portal in and I'm done. Thats all..

Okay it seems to get past the writeable issue, now it's doing this same problem resulting this after I install it. Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/a8600918/public_html/100forum/smf/Packages/temp/install/db_install_adkportal.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/a8600918/public_html/100forum/smf/Sources/Packages.php on line 556

ALSO! Before it which it never showed when I first encountered that above ^ it showed this. Error in Package Installation

At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.
Whats going on do I need to reinstall and reboot my files and smf forum?

Another edit!

I seemed to actually fix it, it was the ADKportal it was probably not working with my forums, I installed simple portal but it's version is 2.2, Can you help me on how I can upgrade my forum where do I install the files to?

Kill Em All

The first error means that the package can not access the file db_install_adkportal.php in the temp folder for some reason.

The second means that one or more of the file changes that the mod makes is failing, thus it won't change the code. You will have to make the change manually. See the link in my sig about manual installation of mods.

Slayer5946

Okay thanks it's making much more sense and do you have a link to upgrading your smf ver? Most of the mods downloads are for only 2.0 or 2.2 whatever it's called..

Thank you very much. This topic is now marked answered! I'll make sure of it that if I come across this or something else again I'll ask for your guidance.

Slayer5946

OH wait how do I fix this?

I think I may have to reinstall the package I read over it and maybe one of the files is missing or corrupted correct?

Slayer5946

That doesn't help because the mod ISN'T there or it's not writeable it won't let me write it. I may have to reinstall correct?
