Logging in with an SQL account

Hello,

Thank you for your software.

I didn't make it past the first installation step - I created an SQL database at my Internet Provider (with user name and password), but the install.php file won't accept any combination of user names and passwords (I started with the real user name and password).

Thanks in advance for any information on what I could be doing wrong.

This is the response I get (with all combinations):

Cannot connect to the MySQL database server with the supplied data.

If you are not sure about what to type in, please contact your host.
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)

Please check with your server/host provider first. It might just be your server/host problem.
