Hi Guys,

When I click on "updtate forum" to install smf 1.1.11 from smf 1.1.10 I get the error
403 Forbidden
You do not have permission to access this document.

My chmod settings are:

Files: 644
Directories : 755

Please help

Hi, Langman.   :)

You may want to check with your server and make sure you have ownership of your files and directories.  If you don't, they'll need to help you "chown" to regain ownership.  (Setting permissions usually doesn't work, unless you do have ownership.)

Here's a link for upgrading, also, just to give you a checklist to go by:

Thanks gbsothere,

What do you meen by "ownership"?

Illori

your user on the server must "own" the files to be able to edit them, if someone else somehow got ownership of your files you can not edit them.

Langman, you're assigned a "user/group" name as part of your hosting.  This should be what you see when checking for ownership.  If you have a File Manager in your Control Panel, the ownership column can usually be viewed there.  If you see anything else, other than your user/group name, (an example might be "Apache") then you do not have ownership and, without it, many things will give you trouble, including setting permissions.  Your server can confirm if you do, indeed, have ownership and, if not, can help you perform "chown" to regain it.

Hi Guys,

I spoke to my SP and they confirmed that I am the owner of the files.
Uploading through the package manager also does not work. (Do I need to unzip the file or upload the ziped file. Tried last mentioned)

Any suggestions?

JimM

What error did you get when you tried installing the update through the package manager?  Have you installed a mod before?  This update installs just like a mod; you don't have to unzip the package.

JimM,
I get a "file are damaged or corrupted" error

Try uploading the file to your Packages directory, using your FTP client.

Then, go to Package Manager and apply it.

That's what I had to do, to get it to install on my forum.

Hi K@,

Loaded the File to Packages through FTP but I can not see the file in the Browse Packages tab in Package Manager.

I can see the file in File Manger mod but also get the Forbidden error there

Any ideas?

You refreshed the page?

It's in the packages directory, yet you can't see it? It IS still archived, yes?
