With Opera, that message isn't much of a clue, I'm afraid.

It has issues, with regard to that.

It's pissing a lot of people off, too. (Check-out the Opera forum).

it's nothing to do with the browser, and i really wish you lot would avoid telling us that we're only just one up from internet explorer!
My response was in no way aimed against Chrome, apart from the fact that there seems to be a bug in Chrome that causes exactly the same error mentioned in the OP. Something related to browser side caching I believe.

How you can help SMF

Oya

never experienced it at all and ive done a lot of work with chrome in the last year or so (since 3.x betas), including custom mods to smf and never hit that yet

the thing is, the fact the connection was closed by the *remote* server shows it isn't immediately a browser issue...

the first clue is Connection closed by remote server - it's a server issue

try admin > server settings > enable compressed output - turn it OFF and see if that helps

You might want to try Oya's suggestion while you wait on a response from your host if you haven't already tried it.

And I was going off the error in the first post, which says nothing about a connection closed by remote server.  :)
