Suspicious member user IDS'

I have had a lot of new members sign up lately but it looks suspicious, all of the user IDS'  have the same format ...in example ( initial, 1st-name, last-name, initial ).  I am getting at least5 or 6 a day like this in the same format, but none of them posted.  Is this spam attempts or bots and how can I stop it if it's bots?  My forum --> techraffle.com/forum

Probably spammers, there are a lot of mods for this in the SMF Mod database.

Well if they don't post spam or post at all how do I know for sure?

So far I have no evidence that these are spammers....
They have different IP and Hostnames.
I have a mod that's making the signature links non-active for new members, but It does look like someone is using a bot to plant these signature links.
Are these links active or followed by search engine spiders?
