I accidentally installed the small update for 1.1.12 onto RC3. I put it in maintenance mode, then when it predictably did not work, tried installing RC4 small update over it. It seemed to work fine, but now will not go out of maintenance mode. How can I manually reopen the forum?

check settings.php file in your root folder for your forum. the directions for maintenance mode are in that file.

Thanks, but it's now giving me this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/*********/public_html/forums/Settings.php on line 30

All Colours Sam

what exactly did you do?

to remove maintenance mode type 0 on your settings.php file

in here:

$maintenance = 1;      # Set to 1 to enable Maintenance Mode, 2 to make the forum untouchable. (you'll have to make it 0 again manually!)

change it to $maintenance = 0;

if you have errors with your settings.php file,  take the settings_bak.php file, make a copy and tjis copy renamed to Settings.php, overwirte the old settings.php.
Oh, wouldn't it be great if I *was* crazy? ...then the world would be okay

It was at 2, I changed it to 0. Reuploading and changing it again fixed it, and everything's okay again. Thanks!
