Hi I want to go back to 1.1x. What is the safest and fastest way to achieve this. Is this the same steps as upgrading smf using large upgrade download. Thanks

Did you make a backup before you upgraded ?

The only way back is to completely remove the 2.0 RC4 installation from your server, then install 1.1.12 from scratch, and inport the backup that you hopefully made   ::)

I did not mention rc4 but rc3. No I have't start the upgrade yet. Did you mean backing up the database in Admin   or full backup in cpanel?.
Are you saying I delete the entire 2.0 rc3 files from server and a possible install of 1.1.12 afresh?. Thanks

A downgrade is not supported nor advisable. The only way to downgrade is via a long way i.e. SMF 2.0 RC3 to phpBB and back to SMF 1.1.x. Again, a downgrade is not supported nor advisable.

That goes for all flavours of v2.x.

I had updated to rc4 from rc3 i did a backup of the database before hand installed rc4 and alot of mods did not work some did and  I know a rc version is not recommended for production site but we must have the latest ;D I uploaded the full rc3 to the server did the web install and ignored that i was using an older version all seemed to be lost (came up like a new install no Members what my problem was after that i needed to update the settings.php file to point to the database.. and a restore ( I  tried a restore while rc4 was installed did not roll back) had won on my comp uploaded through the ftp and boom rc3 was back with all my members and posts but no mods installed none nada.. I spent the next 3 hours just getting back to where i was before the upgraded I consider myself lucky I will upgrade again when more support for the mods are available...

I believe you my men but if after deleting all  smf2.0 RC3 files from my server, and installing 1.1.12 from scratch, then I restore back my BACKUP, will I get things working well again viz my post and members very important...
Yes you will.

If your database backup is complete and working, then you would get everything else back, but themes, attachments and avatars.
Those would not be included in the Database backup, but would be files and would have needed to be backed up separately.

Hello, I checked my server now and found out I have a backup of smf 1.1.10 version.  If I install smf from scratch now, and import 1.1.10 backup, it then means only post, topics and members available then will be restored.  What is the way out?

Like ahrasis pointed out, you can do a move to phpBB, and then back to SMF 1.1 through converters - but this is a bit risky, and you should backup everything thoroughly before trying.

I made full remote convertor from SMF 2 RC3 to SMF 1.1.12 (maybe it can be useful for SMF RC4 too  :) )
Convertor url: _http://spyfinch.org.ua/conv/
But it is on my language (I'm ukrainian). So please use translators, before i could translate it to English.

How it works: entering data into the fields, click OK, the script creates new tables in the your database for SMF 1.1.12 with another prefix.
Convertor conversation: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=416981.0

It does not save your passwords anywhere. Waiting for feedback.
Sorry for my English.

As always, downgrading and using any unofficial, unverified tools or scripts to do it, is not supported by the team, and you will be doing it on your own risk. Personally I would not even try a script I didn't trust, that asks for DB access of any kind.

If you want safe converting then create an additional database that you can delete after. And all problems will disappear. I wrote that the service does not store any information or data that you entered.

Ok then but please where can I get smf official converter, if not could the downgrade be possible without doing this?
