Now that my forum is on line, im trying to design my front page

Im using Ezportal, and getting the hang of the ezblocks. But i cant figure out how to make a nice forum logo and add some descriptive text...I would also like to insert a photo slide aswell, tried a flash download but it would upload onto SMF.

As always, any help gratefully recieved.
