I have an existing website that I am in the process of installing SMF 2.0 RC4 (new install).

I have completed all the instructions to installing SMF. The next stage on the list is "Using Webinstall"  as I already have a website do I have to follow this? or miss this out?

Sorry if this is a silly question to you experts, but I am new to the SMF system

If your forum is up and running , then no need to run Webinstall.php

I have not see any instructions yet to check it's running. What file do I need to run to see? is it index.php?

Yes. It's working, several things I need to try and change and add.

The time is one hour fast
I need to change the header title
Can I add a square logo? this would need to double the size of the current top border or it will be too small to see.

How do I start this proceedure?

You go into your FTP client.

Then, open up your SMF installation's Themes folder.

Goto "default".

Goto "images".

Replace "logo.gif" with your image.

It could be.

Now that I looked at my folder it doesn't exist anymore too.

Thanks for that, perhaps someone else can tell me how to change the SMF Logo at the top for my own. Mine is about 120px square.

Illori

it seems to be smflogo.png in the Themes/default/images folder

stampman

I found that, rather then change too much I re-named my image smflogo.png and it works fine.

Moving on, I don't seem to have found a page that has options I can change ie. my clock settings - it's is one hour out so I assume possibly not set for my country. Is their a commom page for these settings - how do I access it " during the installation of SMF 2.00 RC4 I had to set a datebase username and password, I have not used this yet. How do I get to view all the available options?

Sorry you can tell I am new to SMF.

i am looking at my 1.1* install atm as i cant access my 2.0, look in admin -> features and options Overall time offset will change the time, but you can also change it in your profile look and layout preferences.

stampman

As all my user will be in the UK, can't I set it at UK time as a default in some way?
Using SMF 2.0 RC4

Illori

you can set the offset to be equal to UK time.
