Problem upgrading 1.1.11 to 1.1.12, test fail ./Sources/ManageSmileys.php

I currently have a message saying the following:

A few security vulnerabilities have been identified in SMF 1.1.11. You can install this patch (click here to install) to update your version of SMF to 1.1.12.

So I clicked the link and where it lets you know if each area for the testing, to see if it is test Successful or Test Failed, well I get all listed as Success, but 1 section that is a fail. it is apparently the " ./Sources/ManageSmileys.php " location/script.

So I have tried editing the files permissions as they were set as 644, I do not know if that is the correct permission or not, which is why I am here.


I am going to copy and paste the entire files coding into this area and hope that someone may know what is causing problems for this script, or if this script needs to even be here at all or if I should delete it completely.

First I will explain a little history about my forum, I was with xtreemhost and I had the auto installer install the SMF forum, everything was great so I starting adding packages, mods, software etc. Then I realized that my inodes was going over 100% on my webhoster settings. They advised me to upgrade my plan for a paid plan which I got a great plan that had unlimited space, etc, well basically unlimited everything. So I got them to transfer my forum, which they stuffed up somehow.

Simply put, I had to delete the entire database and all files etc, which I have all the downloaded package software, zip files etc for the mods and software I had installed. I had to delete basically everything that was on the forum directory, then I did a reinstall from the newer webhosting service.

Everything seemed to be fine, till i realized that not every file was deleted, which I did delete. I ended up completely deleting the ENTIRE /forum directory so that nothing would have survived. lol

Now I have a brand new completely clean installation of the forum. So i thought that I should upgrade it to the 1.1.12 version which is what i was using before. The problem is when it does the testing, I get a test Fail on the path: ./Sources/ManageSmileys.php

I do not know why this is, as I currently have no packages installed. Now I am here asking what do I do to this file, so that I can upgrade to version 1.1.12. is this file part of an old installation, does my current brand new forum installation need this ManageSmileys.php file at all? Does the file permissions need to be set to a specific number? such as 777, or could there be a problem within the file itself.

I am going to attempt to get code tagging so I can place all the files text here so those who know what they are doing can read it and tell me if something is wrong and needs to be changed.

Actually, if you do a search for this, it's been answered a few times.

For what it's worth, I had the same problem when I upgraded my forum.

I told it to carry on, anyway, and everything worked perfectly.

well it seemed to install fine, which is great, but there is a strange look on the options in the left hand side. The text seems very small to the extent that some of the words look almost joined together. I can make them out, but I would like to be able to make the text a little larger if I am able, how would i do this, I have been looking in settings and cannot seem to locate how to effect the menu options?

That's the default size.

Two things you can do.

1) Hold the Ctrl key down and spin your mouse wheel, away from you.

2) Edit style.css, in the theme's directory. (Not sure which bit, though)

There may be a part of another file, to change that, though.

I'll ferret around and see if I can figure-out which one.

Found it.

Right at the very top of Admin.template.php (It's in your default theme's directory), you'll find this:

On that last line, you'll see the word "smalltext".

Just change that to "bigtext".

Keep a copy of the original file, just in case.

How does that affect ManageSmileys.php?

I gave it a try, no go. Test still failed.

Have a look into the manual edits as explained in this topic: http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=407301.0
There are a few edits which are supposed to be done during the upgrade. Some of them might not have been applied because of the "tests failed" message. Have a look on what code is missing in ManageSmileys.php and simply add them.

As of your second bit, I think K@'s edit should probably work out right.

Follow the link provided above and do the manual edits for the file "AFTER" you apply the update. That way the update will add in the code which it can. This will save you some time and effort. You will just have to check which one is missing and you that should fix up everything. K@'s edit is for another problem described during the topic and not for the problem stated in the first post.
