how to post instructions showing coding without the coding being recognised

I feel kinda dumb putting this here but hopefully someone will know the answer :)

I have written some instructions for my members on how to add their banner to their profile etc and I want to post this in the rules section of my site.

But how do I do it so that the bulletin board coding shows in the post and isn't recognised and actioned?

Does that make sense?

ie  I want to write {center} [img} your banner url here {/img} {/center}

but using the [] so the user can see the [] displayed in the post and they can cut and paste without me having to tell them to change the brackets or close the spaces etc.

Is there something I can do so that the [] coding etc shows as coding in the post?

thanks anyone for your help :)

Use the [c o d e][/c o d e] tags [without the spaces].

Thank you so much!!!  I knew there had to be a simple way to do it but I am a novice.  That's brilliant.

Thanks again  ;D

No problem, if you noticed while posting you have many different BBC code options, check them out. :P
