Upgrade from SMF 1.1.11 to SMF 2.0 RC4 failed

i wanted to upgrade my forum, using the big upgrade-pack (uploaded the files via ftp) and startet ...myforum/upgrade.php.

I got the following error: Your MySQL version does not meet the minimum requirements of SMF.

But: My Server is running MySQL-Client-Version: 5.0.77, so this should work.
What else could be the problem?

are you sure you are running 5.0.77? that is past the minimum requirement. Does phpinfo say you are running 5.0.77?

What is a phpinfo() file?

Thank your for wanting you to help. I could solve the problem with my hoster.
It was no mysql problem, he updated to php5 and now it runs smoothly.
