News (and newsletters) don't showing up

  The problem is that no matter what settings I use, the news don't appear at all. Any ideas how to diagnostic this problem OR some good ways to add another kind of news (but without portal) ?

do you have news enabled for your theme? admin -> current theme

you might want to contact the author and ask him about this issue, it is possible that the theme does not support the news or it was removed for some reason.

Where did you find "show news fader on board index"?  Mine won't show on a custom theme either.
