I have tried everything and can not get started without an error message.
I installed from the web-host c panel. I knew it would need an upgrade. It Installed version 1.1.10

I downloaded the zip file and and copied the install  through ftp. ran install >>did the upgrade to 1.1.12

deleted install.php

Then I get this error>>

<<It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.12, while your database is at version 1.1.4. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php. >>

I went to the main site and downloaded the zip file for 1.1.12 >>unzipped and copied those over the files online through ftp.

deleted upgrade.php

Still get this same error. I think I'm like 10 hours into this thing now and just can't seem to get it installed without an error message.

I spent hours with an error stating the language version didn't match the forum version. Nothing fixed it. So I finally gave up, deleted the whole thing and started from scratch. Now this error....

Any help would be really appreciated.

That's what I did. I went to the main site and downloaded the 1.1.11

Then went to 1.1.12

sandysue22

Wait, I think the cpanel gave me 1.1.0

Then I got the download that was 1.1.12

So maybe I skipped 1.1.11

You mean ---you have to have every single upgrade in between. Someone couldn't just install 2.0? and get everything?

You should be able to upgrade in one step using a large upgrade package.

To upgrade to 2.0...use the Large upgrade package from the 2.X series.

Is it installed the same way>>unzip all >> upload/overwrite through ftp

Illori

are you actually running upgrade.php? this is the file required to update your database.

sandysue22

Hello,
I did do that a couple times. Then it would ask me to delete the upgrade.php file.

I just don't know. I tried all day long, but got some error every single time. I just deleted it tonight, and I'll start fresh in the morning. I was too frustrated to try again.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try getting the install from the cpanel. Then, just upgrading to the 2.0

I tried 2 of the others and got errors with both. 1.1.11 and 1.1.12
(some files had updated and some not) I couldn't seem to get the same version numbers on all the files.

Thanks for the help,
Sandy

Be sure and let us know how it goes.  The error you posted is minor and would not affect the functionality of your forum.  It's something that happens from time to time and can be fixed with a simple mySQL query.  Now that you are going to upgrade to 2.0 you shouldn't have that problem.

Hello,
I'm going to try this again this morning. I'd just like to verify before I start.

From the Cpanel, it installed SMF Ver. 1.1.10

Can I do the large install and follow this instructions to bring this version up to 2.0?

Or--- do I need to go through with each individual upgrade -- 1.1.11, 1.1.12, then 2.0

Thanks for so much help! I appreciate it

Illori

you can upgrade directly from 1.1.0 to 2.0 RC4.
