First off you will need to change a couple of images such as the logo and header. Both images can be found in the themes images/custom folder.

Themes/silentwave_20/images/custom/logo.png
Themes/silentwave_20/images/custom/header-bg.jpg

For the outside color (background) you will need to look in the index.css file for this and change the #505050 to the hex color of your choice.

Themes/silentwave_20/css/index.css

i uninstalled my forum to get rid of the spam before i made those changes, started a new one with all of the same settings and names, but when i try to load the silent wave theme it turns out looking like this:
