Upgrading from 1.1.11 to 2.0 RC5

Well as the subject says, I've been trying to preform an upgrade on my SMF forum, version 1.1.11, to 2.0 RC5... but I've been running into problems and errors at every turn that I have tried to resolve but to no avail, I'm just not as savvy with this stuff as I'd like to think.

Basically what I have done is made a complete duplicate of the forum and database to test the upgrade first, so if it did go horribly wrong it's not on the live site. I followed the install instructions on here and downloaded the large update file, uploaded them and replaced as it asked, went to /upgrade.php to start the process and that's when the first problem occurred. I get the error:

LainaaThe upgrader found some old or outdated language files, for the forum default language, english-utf8.

Please make certain you uploaded the new versions of all the files included in the package, even the theme and language files for the default theme.
   [SKIP] [Try English]

I'm not sure why this is happening, especially if I replaced those files with the ones from the large update package, however I read in another thread that it can be skipped and shouldn't affect anything. So I gave it ago and skipped it, but the next step just gave even more errors and with that many its more than likely not a good idea to continue. I attached a screenshot of what the screen actually looks like.

Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.  :'(

No problem. :)

This duplicate.

You DID change the paths, didn't you?

If not, various links in the duplicate will point to your live site, I believe...

Genesisnx

Aye, I changed the paths in the settings file. Unless there's something I'm missing?  :)

Illori

once you do the upgrade you should  be able to reset your themes paths as well.

Genesisnx

But that's the problem here, I can't do the upgrade.

Clicking "Try english" most likely solves it.

Always follow the advise SMF gives...it knows itself best ;)

Ah yes, sorry I forgot to mention that I also tried that, it gives me this error:

LainaaCritical Error!
The upgrade script cannot find script.js or it is out of date. Make sure your theme paths are correct.

I can see script.js in the /Themes/default/scripts folder and I know its the one from the large upgrade files... So not sure why this is happening.  :-X

Try running the repair_settings.php tool to repair your paths before upgrading.

Ah ha! Thank you for that, some of the paths still pointed to the live one and honestly I wouldn't have known where they were since you don't see them in settings.php. The upgrade went very smoothly after that fix.

Thank you again. ;D
