LainaaYou're using an outdated version of SMF, which contains some bugs which have since been fixed. It is recommended that you update your forum to the latest version as soon as possible. It only takes a minute!

Clicked on the link in the admin panel and trying now 20minutes - not only 1...

LainaaError in Package Installation
At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

Installations actions for "SMF 1.0.21 / 1.1.13 Update":
Installing this package will perform the following actions:
   Type    Action    Description
1.    Execute Modification    smf_1-1-12_to_1-1-13_patch.mod    Modification parse error
2.    Execute Modification    smf_1-1-13_can_fail.xml    Modification parse error
3.    Execute Modification    -    Modification parse error

It was a 1.1.12 install some weeks ago, only have the custom profile mod and AS Theme installed. Only did manually changes in index.template.php and style.css in AS Theme folder.

Okay I will try that now.

But why do they offer an upgrade trough admin panel and it fails without a proper error message what exactly failed...

Edit: If I try to upload the package into package manager: The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted.

I will upload the upgrade.tar.gz now via ftp and run upload.php then...

Update in 1 minute... lol...

Matthew K.

Not exactly sure on that, but if the Package Manager upgrade fails, you should use the package from the Downloads section at SMF.

Update in a minute ahahahahahahha... now I'm copying the backup back to the server...

Edit: oops, was with wrong user in the shell and unzipped the files... now changed user and group for all the files "chown -R user:group folder/"  and the error disappears :D

Manual Upgrade with uploading the files via ftp instead clicking on the message in the admin panel worked now...

But why do they offer the upgrade in the admin panel when it doesnt work?!

Edit: yay but now the theme has 2 little bugs -.-

Edit2: okay I think it was a caching problem, reloaded the page again now - all okay  :)

I tried to reinstall "custom profile field" mod but I got the same error now like upgrading form admin panel:

LainaaInstallations actions for "Custom Profile Field Mod":
Installing this package will perform the following actions:
   Type    Action    Description
1.    Execute Modification    modification.xml    Modification parse error
2.    Execute Modification    -    Modification parse error
3.    Extract File    ./Sources/CustomProfile.php
4.    Extract File    ./Themes/default/languages/CustomProfile.english.php

Any ideas how I can fix that?

I'm having similar problem and currently running SMF 1.1.12

Following the directions below:

A few security vulnerabilities have been identified in SMF 1.1.12. You can install this patch (click here to install) to update your version of SMF to 1.1.13.

I get this warning:
Error in Package Installation

At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you're trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don't have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

And this shows with the rest of the tests showing as successful.
Execute Modification ./ssi_examples.php File not found

I'm really green horn at this, so any help would be appreciate.

Ivan

Your error says file "ssi_examples.php" is missing.

Take the 1.1.13 full package and take the "ssi_examples.php" and copy it in your smf install.

you missed something. I'm new at this.

Will repair_settings.php help me?
http://download.simplemachines.org/index.php?thanks;filename=repair_settings.php

Or

what happens if I just use the full package of 1.1.13 full package ?

IvanB

I've tried doing manual upgrade through cPanel I can not find upgrade.php file to change the permissions.
Any one know where, I might look? :(

Matthew K.

I assume you downloaded the package, uploaded it to your forums root, and extracted the files, correct? If so, it'd be in your forum root. upgrade.php.

Lab, Thank you, that last info was just enough info to make it work. Been working on it all day and wanted to quite, but I'm stubborn :)

Haha no problem Ivan, glad you got it!!

I'm going to go ahead and mark the topic as resolved, but feel free to post more questions if you have any.
