good day  :D

I'm looking forward to port my forum from vbulletin 3.8.3 to simple machines, but id like some advice from the veterans in here

should i upgrade to SMF 1.x and wait for SMF2 to hit a stable release or should i jump directly to SMF 2 RC?

should i upgrade my vb forum to any particular version to do the conversion?

can i set usergroups and make forum sections visible only for specific usergroups?

thanks for your time :D

I fear you may be waiting many many many years... I know I've been out of the loop on vBulletin for some time, but I don't think they're quite at version 8 yet.

Personally, I would convert straight over to SMF 2.0 RC5, but don't install many, if any mods at all.  Learn the software first, and by the time you're done doing that, hopefully SMF 2.0 final will be out, you can upgrade, then start installing mods.  (reason being, you lose all mods when upgrading from RC versions).
