check the mods here http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=search;type=19. also what way did you try to ban this user? ip bans are not that useful as there are ways to get around them. banning by email address is also not useful as you can always get a new email address.

Any update on this?  If this is solved, please mark it solved by clicking the Mark Topic Solved link at the bottom left.

Thanks for the help. I have not been able to install the Akismet Spam Protection Mod because I can not work with installing scripts.  I wish these mods were self installing.

I tried to install the Package that was on my SMF 1.0.21 / 1.1.13 Update called Login Verification 1.1
but I got this error

The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

IN working with the ban option I noticed you can pick triggers so I selected all four, I hope this might work.

Any advice on how to install mods?  is there an auto install mod? I tried looking at the support specialist link on manual Mod install but I'm afraid I'm not smart enoug to find the template.  I used file zilla to look at the template on my server but it seems I use dreamweaver to maybe access my remote site and then make the script changes in the template.  However this is all beyond what I can do.  I wish Site Ground had self install Mods to install or support on this.

QuoteIN working with the ban option I noticed you can pick triggers so I selected all four, I hope this might work.

In testing this techni with a new email address I made up it seems the triggers have to be enabled.  I was not able to log back in after I applied the triggers in Admin mode.

This issue may be resolved if I test it over time.  would still like to install mods.  I'm using the basic theme seems mods should work with the basic.

Stupid mistake I banned myself as an admin.  When I banned my  new user test name and IP address I also banned my admin IP address.  I can not even register.  I don't suppose there are any ideas?  The good news is I think I can ban people now.

Usually depending on your internet connection if it is not a static connection, you can unplug your Router/modem wait for like 2 minutes and plug it back in.

You then might have a different IP address.

Hope this Helps,
Ryan  ;)

Thanks but I banned the host name, email address and user name.

Sitegroud support is working on it they removed the IP ban hopefully they can find the rest.

RonCz

Siteground support was able to remove all my ban addresses, so I'm back in.

If there is no other way to install mods automactially I guess I know how to ban people now, so this post will be solved soon.

Usually when testing bans the way you did, you can delete the cookies from your browser and get back in after you have of course removed the ban.  Glad your host was able to work things out for you.

Mods are installed from the package manager.  Download the mod, making sure it is written for your version of SMF.  Go to your Admin > Packages and upload the mod.  You will then be able to apply the mod.  It test the installation and if all test good, you can click the install button.  That's about all there is to it.

Not to butt in but I also accidently ended up banning myself.   hehehehehehe.

What I did was go and log into my cPanel and went to IP Ban file folder and looked for my IP address and removed it.  I then closed it out, and viola got back in my site.

Just to let folks know don't panic if you accidently ban yourself.  Simply get your IP address from your computer first, then go and log in to the cpanel and then to the IP Ban Icon and then look for your IP address and remove it and you are back in business.

Good luck

RonCz

Thanks JimM I am now able to install mods. Consider this problem solved.

I also love the feature where you can change words that are posted.  On my site, if a person types in "viagra" it is changed to Vitamin C.  Hence the pervs looks like health nuts. ha ha ha
